vaporstat and vent damper

I figure it will not only help the vent damper last longer, this configuration will also allow a tighter range on the vaporstat as no compensation will be required for the 15 seconds it takes for the damper to re-open after the vaporstat hits cut-in on each cycle.

control sequence question
So I bought my atmospheric gas steam boiler (W/M EG-40, standing pilot) a vaporstat and a low preasure gauge for New Years. Observing with the new gauge that the "off time" for preasure to come down 6 or 8 oz is going to be maybe 40 seconds once the fire is off, it seems to me it would make the most sense to insert the vaporstat in series between the control output of the vent damper and the gas valve so the vent damper stays open throughout the heat call and the vaporstat just cycles the burners. (I would leave the preasuretrol in circuit where it is as a high limit safety). I don't see any reason to keep cycling the vent damper while the vaporstat is modulating the burner.
Is there any reason this is a bad idea? Am I missing anything? thanks!0 -
I don't see
any reason that wouldn't work. It would save wear and tear on the damper....
