received word that Amtrol filed for bankruptcy (Chapter 11).
They're not going out of business, just reorganizing.

When I started


in this biz, Amtrol was the only indirect I ever heard of. The name is synonymous with indirect fired water heating.

You didn't get an indirect, you got an "Amtrol tank" REGARDLESS of which brand was actually being installed.

One of THE BEST classes I ever attended was given by Amtrol. PONPC, pumping away, NPSH etc.......all covered in the class.

You can tell quite a bit about a company by the expressions on their employees faces. While on tour at the plant, I never saw an employee "watching the clock" if you get my meaning.

Amtrol had a policy then where employees learned more than one job. Some of the work can be EXTREMELY monotonous and it's easy to "wander off" mentally resulting in work place injuries. Amtrol employees would work a 4 hour shift doing one job, then switch to a different task after that. According to the Amtrol rep giving us the tour, their work related injuries dropped considerably because of this policy. Good for the employees and good for the company.

I haven't used the indirects for some years now, due mainly to issues that popped up with the "Smart control". I have been told that they worked all those issues out. Every HW job we do has an Amtrol expansion tank on it though!

I hope they can get this worked out. They are a fine company and they employ some fine folks with fine families.
