Pilot light blows out

I have a mid-40s Crane coal boiler converted to natural gas for single-pipe steam heat. I plan on replacing it next year. A recent problem, though, it too much air turbulence in the firebox. The pilot flame is often pulled off when the boiler cycles off, and must be relit. I thoroughly cleaned the burner, pilot jet, gas valve, etc. under recommendation of a good boiler guy, with little change. Adjusting damper, secondary air intake, and outside (busted out cellar window) air intake had no effect. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You have the right plan - implement it.
Next year is only 11 days away.
Be sure to find a good professional for this job.

I had a similar problem
It was happening to my Burhman gas fired hot water boiler. After replacing with various pilots, the real reason was the gas pressure coming into the house. The plumbing contractor did a pressure test and confirmed the low pressure. If you do have low pressure, it's dangerious and should be addressed asap. Good luck0
