Pressueretrol Help

I have noticed a few times now that I am not getting a response on the initial heat call from my thermostat. Each time this has happened I have checked and found that the Pressuretrol (which I have been trying to get set up best, as I have spent the off-season replacing the leaky main vent along with many old radiator vents and insulating the entire set of basement pipes) was not letting the system come on. It's the basic Honeywell, cut-in set at 1/2 (as low as it can screw down) and differential presumably set for 1 - the 1 faces me, that's as far as the dial goes counter-clockwise. Am I reading this wrong? I have made this work by dialing it up to the 2 towards me, and have also noticed that when it is not very far past "1" I get a lot of cycling on and off once I have steam up - which by the way, how do you Pros define "short cycling", as in how often on and off, and duration?
The control itself is new, having been replaced last winter after we moved in when a knucklehead completely gunked up our system while fixing pipes (long story, since then boiler has been cleaned out properly). Other than this quirk, it appears to now be running better than at any point in the year we've been here.
Thanks in advance.

Check your pigtail. Maybe partially blocked not allowing the release of pressure.
    Had that happen to me.

Also, DO NOT run the adjustment screw all the way down. Yes, you want the lowest setting, but you don't want to jam the screw. Go to the bottom of the scale GENTLY, and then back off the stop point a tad. And clean the pigtail...
