new steam traps noisy
there must be slight "puddling" in the trap, more-so than the old-ones because of the raised nature of the replaceable seat.
How much steam-pressure are you running now?, and can you reduce your pressure at the boiler further?

new steam traps noisy
I have an old stone mill with a low pressure, 2 pipe steam heating system. We are improving the residential portion of the heating and this year I decided to replace all the old Mepco fixed seat rad traps with new replaceable seat traps, plus I added two rads to the living room. The new traps all buzz or "sing" (depending on the mood of the listener). The trap on the new (old) rad I installed has a ball valve control so I can shut it off easily. If I wait for it to run down then snap it open - it is quiet untill the next time the system cycles through on the thermostat and it is coming up from zero pressure again.
I used a stethascope to make sure it is the traps that are buzzing. The old ones never did this - what's up?
