Steamhead (in transit)

I've never seen one go bad that quickly, unless it was mis-applied. But I know in your case, it was the right part for the job.

Main vent question for steamhead
What is the failure rate for main vents? In particular a Hoffman 4A which happens to be the slowest vent on the shortest and smallest main in my system. This vent is 2 1/2 years old and today decided to not close any more and vent steam. Even after removal and cleaning it still wanted to misbehave. Since I had a spare (because things like this only fail in the middle of the night, during blizzards, and on holidays) I replaced it. But I'm curious as to how often these fail.0 -

Thanks. It was sized using the vent chart from here and is appropriate for it's location. I'm thinking it was defective out of the box since it failed so soon. Happy Holidays0
