is it ok for a gas hot water baseboard furnace to be left on its shipping pallet.i just realized my furnace installed 6 years ago was left on the wood pallet..i know my old furnace was on cement block to keep it a few inches off the floor...it will be a lot of work to remove it from pallet but if it should be taken away i will have it done...thanks

Probably OK,
I don't do this, but I've seen more than a few that spent their whole life on the skid they were shipped on, some longer than 6 years. I like to make things look good and neat. If the pallet is solid and even and not rotting, I'd probably leave it.0 -
I would check
the install manual first, if it says to mount it on a non-combustable surface then it definatly needs to go.0 -
for temporary heat or in an emergency...
wet based boilers can be left on the crate a while,it makes it easier to roll them back out of the way with some 3 wheel casters on all 4 corners .
an aluminum plate can be slid under the boiler, the crate cut square and box it in with a three sided piece of diamond plate ,...
this pinner Slant fin Intrepid is still on the pallet, with the very same aforementioned casters beneath it
would not dream of leaving it like that ...the casters are Valuable...They are made of genuine plastic
here is another alternative jpeg #2 reel it up close to the outside of the building and throw camlock hoses in thru the wall with a camlock hosed headder to mobile unit heaters... though i dream this stuff *~/:) Randy the General has this lash up for industrial light commercial buildings for temp heat. #3
I Love the sanity of clicking in some camlocks pugging in a 200K unit heater and or large slab headder and getting on with the Work.
the one thing though is things tend to like to keep doing what they have been doing .0 -
Shipping Pallet

First I assume you mean it is a boiler, not a furnace.
Second, you did not mention power burner, so I also assume that you are referring to an atmospheric gas forced hot water boiler.
You MUST check the I&O manual to see if the subject boiler is listed for installation on a combustible floor.
If it does NOT say in the manual that the boiler IS listed for installation on a combustible floor, then you CAN NOT install it on a combustible floor, i.e., a pallet.
I don't care how long it has been there, or if someone else has seen a gazillion of them installed the same way, if it is not listed, then it is not listed, and it must be changed to meet the manufacturer's requirements per their listing.
I won't go into the details how, but the boiler can be improperly installed on a combustible floor for many years and appear to be benign, before it actually ignited a fire.
The boiler MUST be installed per the manufacturers listing, or you MUST have something in hand IN WRITING from that manufacturer, allowing you to deviate from that manual and granting you that variance so you can maintain the listing of that boiler.
