Been a good while since asked a question here, usually over at hvactalk.
Found a small space conditioner boiler today (M# C21S6), had some knocking at the far end house. Copper steam line added with addition, uninsulated, no main vent for that long run. Homeowner says that part house stays colder.
Will be fixing that part later. Problem is, there is no install manual with the 30+ yr old boiler, one pipe steam. Its small size would lead me to think there should be near boiler piping to dry out the steam, since its too small for the water to drop out before leaving the boiler (single 2" outlet connected).
Anyone know if this boiler needs the header setup? I may just do it anyway since there's no equalizer line, two tappings off top sides, and I can hear a gurgle in piupe as it runs. (I need to add skim port anyway)
Thanks for any info you may have.

Yes a header is a must with most smaller boilers as it becomes a part of the steam chest it helps to dry out the steam before it heads out to the system. and if that is a long run to the back of the house then a main vent would be in order about 15 inches from the ens of the run.0
