Do you know what the intials of Taco mean

Nope
It stands for Thermal Applicance COmpany, a fine old name, and a company that I admire. Taco, you may have noticed, is also a big supporter of HeatingHelp.com. They help make the place possible, and they're always right here with help for anyone who needs it. Even Johnny White, the owner of the company, answers questions that people ask. And even on his days off.
Taco doesn't set the price of metals on the world market. No manufacturer does. They pass the cost on to the end user, which is the way business works.
So I think your comment here is out of line, Brendan, and I'd like you to consider what I've said, and then, if you're a reasonable man, apologize. That would be the right thing to do.Retired and loving it.0 -
good luck with apology
Merry Christmas Dan

Dans right
Thats kinda a shot at a Taco and John White. They are one the most pro-active companys out there. If you call they always answer questions and help. It's too bad you feel that way but do the RIGHT thing and apologize. Merry christmas from Central Mass. Darren0 -
With the cost of everything going up
both raw materials, the diesel fuel to ship them, energy for forge, cast and process them, the energy to heat, cool and ventilate the plant, labor costs (Rhode Islanders have families to feed too), I am surprised that the increase is only 4 to 7 percent.
Yes it is higher than the average of inflation, but the economy segments that affect manufacturing are from the highest ends of the spectrum, out of proportion to the rest.
I commend Taco not only for offering fine products but because they are holding up here in New England and especially Rhode Island which needs the jobs.
I further admire the heads-up. Nothing short of honorable.
Brendan, I agree with Dan.
Not to pile on (sorry, cannot resist but I live for irony), my code text was "IeJurkKk", appropos of nothing0 -

Why would you
want to say that Brendan? If you don't like the product or company dont buy it, simple as that.
They are one of a few manuf. that regularly post here with helpful answers, to me that is a stand up thing to do. Definately dont dodge questions or stand on there name alone. These days, that is a VERY rare thing to find in a major manufacturer.

TACO- T aking A ccountability for the C omfort of O thers.
I am Taco's biggest fan. They are the only company out there combining controls with pumps. Their products save me time in the field, and that is more valuable to me as a contractor than anything.
I fought to have my supply house stock Taco products and won. Not because I have leverage but because I could show the value. It is a great story. Maybe I will tell it sometime.

Questions
I would like it if you would explain to me how providing good products and good service in a free market society equates to taking advantage of anyone? You don't have to buy anything that you choose not to. Your way off base and should man up with an appology.

It's just the other way around, Larry.
If I like the company, I invite them to advertise. Now you've got it straight.Retired and loving it.0 -
Hi everyone It is apparent that there are more problems than spybots here on the wall, My name and e-mail address has been HIJACKED by others.
In the words of Constantin I am a mere HO with no animosity to any manufactorer so please please accept my regret that MY name has been used to by some discruntled low life
If i remember just recently SUBCOOLER complained of similar tactics (maybe Dan can get to the bottem of all of this)
again my appologies

I seldom post here, but I can't pass this one up. Thanks to Taco for the assistance here on The Wall and for their continued product development. A lot of Taco's products make my life easier.
Don't know what's up with the hijacking, just want to throw my support out for Taco.
Merry Christmas to all, may the heat be plentiful and the service calls few.0 -

Brendon
On occation after using the search feature on The Wall for posts I have come back as various identities when I next post. It is easy enough to correct but someone may inadvertently be using your idenity an not ralize it at times, I know it haas happened to me too. Now in the case of subcooler it may have been intetional but that is another issue and to avoid that we would all have to regester and have passwords which I am sure we all, along with Dan wish to avoid.0 -
My turn
Everyone,
I actually sat down last night with a piece of note book paper and started to write a long disertation about why manufacturers must implement price increases, my philosophy of profitability and stability on behalf of :
1)Our employees,
2)Our suppliers,
3)Our customers,
4)Our community,
5)Our environment,
Our total commitment to continuing to bring to market the best products we can for YOU, (and the part profitability and price increase plays in that,) etc. etc.
But when I came back today, and read all of these responses, well, there is LITTLE I can add.
Excepting that you are the reason I keep coming back. And keep going to work. And keep the company private.
I respect anyones opinion. That's why it's great to be an American. So never hesitate to throw it at me!!!
Just know I will always make decisions that I think protect the 500 people that give us all their best every day, by building the products we bring to you. And I know that I may not be the most popular person with everyone for lots of those decisions. Sorry about that. My dad taught me to try to have the courage to do what is right for ALL of us.
Anyway, this string lifted my Christmas.
Thanks...jhw0 -
You're the man!
Thanks Johnny, for all you do for us and the industry.
Posts like this make me want to continue to use TACO products.
