thermostat on lower level

you want one room to be warmer than another that is clear, by zoning that room you can get that to happen...placing a thermostat on the wall wont do it though...

removing the existing one and relocating it to the room in question may make That room reasonable then again it may not....then too it may make other rooms sweltering hot...

it is like my life, it is a balancing act :)

    thermostat on lower level

Does it make sense to install a thermostat on the lower level not just on the main floor? I have forced air and live half the time on the lower level(home theater). Obviously the main floor will be warmer do to heat rising and I would prefer not to use any electric whatever to supplement the heat on the lower level. During the winter I set the thermostat to 65 degrees and the baement is 3-5 degrees cooler. Would this be a viable solution to warm the basement or would it confuse or over tax the heating system?

    Thanks in advance...
