Thermostat Differential

Seems that the new electronic thermostats out there sometimes have a "temperature differential" setting instead of the trusty anticipator.
What would bee the best setting for a residential steam boiler system with cast iron radiators? 1.5 degrees? That would provide a three degree temperature swing between cycles.
Any thoughts on this? Would the logest cycle be most efficent?

Differential
A 1.5 - 2* differential would be your best bet. But is it going to give you +/- 3-4*? Not sure. Might not over shoot that same amount--think other controls with differential settings...
Also, the LARGEST differential would NOT be the most efficient. Think average temp--you COULD maintain 70* by swinging between 60 & 80, but why would you want to? Godilocks had it right...0 -
CYCLE RATE
Most good digital stats have an installers setup you need to go to and adjust the cycles per hour. This is what they use instead of a heat anticipator.0
