Circulator Question

I have a B&G Series 100 iron circulator. When the t-stat is satisfied, the circ shuts down but I hear a noise similar to a door squeeking when it is closed. Not too loud but it just started doing this and the other two circs don't make this noise. I believe it was oiled upon installation a few months back. Should I oil it again or is this something else?

yes you can try a little oil, but make sure you use the b&g oil you get with the pump.0 -
Sometimes
as the motor slows down you hear a slight click followed by a little squeek. The B&G 100 uses a split phase motor that has a centrifugal switch. The switch can make that sound as the motor slows. You might oil the pump again just to make sure it's lubricated. Don't go nuts with the oil. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Could also be
the mechanical seal chirping. That's how we used to describe it back in the day. Didn't happen often, but when it did, it happened in batches and bunches. Drive you nuts (where's Milne?)Retired and loving it.0 -
Like ALl Ser./100 B&G:
It is critical that the correct amount of oil was put into the front bearing on start up. Assuming this was done,...Could be some select things I also have heard. Purchase the B&G tube with the premeasured amount of SAE # 2 on the label. I find that sometimes, forgetfulness to oil by whom ever results in funky noises. Meaning not to place blame on anyone....:-)
