What to get

"Honey- But you installed heat! I could not ask for anything else".

Translation: Fill In the Blank....

Usually things just strike me as the right thing. This year seems a little thin...hoping for all of your suggestions...

For the kids it is things I make or install; Ballet Barre for the eldest, doll bed for the youngest.

But for my Susan? I am with Ted on this one- Household products are thinly veiled statements sometimes. Unless you commit to using them.

    well

this is what I though to get my wife:

Apple note book ; she's not happy with her laptop, too slow etc.

CD player for her car that will play mp3 cds and hook up her Ipod.

    She suggested:

    Kitchenaid stand mixer

    Armani Code perfume

Celene Dion/Anne Geddes book with CD

    Karoake system

    Kone handheld vacuum

    toaster oven

I just hate to get her household things. It doesn't see fair for her.

    Spousal gifts

It's always a landmine for me. Wife #1 told me years ago she wanted a pasta maker for Christmas. To show that I actually listen and take her wants into account, I bought one..and even labelled it a "family" gift. She didn't talk to me for three days.

Wife #2 says we should take it easy this Christmas, not go overboard or anything. She said that one Valentine's day, too. I listened. It didn't work out well for me.

Maybe I'll just get her a Dead Man Hoodie.

she doesn't lurk here so I can

say that I am taking her to a spa resort, just the 2 of us for 4 days.

Ma and pa takin the younguns, good buddy of mine watching the shop for emergency service (we trade that every xmas)

got a new seperate credit card to book it so she has no idea its coming.. going between christmas and new years.

While I am not into spa like things, she is, and I am going to spend quality time with her..I can live with the fruit scented stuff for a few days

    gift

Several years ago, we decided not to exchange with each other, and focus on the kids. Lo and behold , Christmas morning, I get an expensive jacket....from the kids. Ya, right.
Did I feel like a ****. It's better to overgift than to fall short. Besides, the folks at Visa are depending on me...

    Back atcha...

Hope all is well in the homeland with you and yours. The wife really wants an extension in the bedroom ... a phone extension, that is. If I do that and finish even ONE of my current projects, it should be a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

    Laytah...

Take along a little vial of "Ode' de #2" and take a sniff every now and again. You'll survive ;)

Worst thing I ever bought and survived

Before we had kids my one and only used to go hunting with me. I made the mistake of assuming that she actually came along because she enjoyed it and not just to humor me. Soooooo........ I bought her a brand new Remington Model 1100 shotgun, 12gauge, semi auto.........It was our first Christmas together and nearly our last.

Not really, but let's just say it wasn't a big score.

I've learned over the 30+ years that little boxes containing trinkets that sparkle and shine are never a bad idea. Home run every time! :)

    Oh, Steve....

    You shouldn't have!.... really.

What she really wanted was a Beretta break-action 20 GA... or a .410....

That and a nicely set precious stone will keep you side-by-side, if not over-under :)

    That is easy

Just bought one of those 3 handsets one base unit phone systems. Put one in the garage, one in the bedroom, replaced the old cordless, and voila!! 3 phones, no new lines. Works great.

    thanks

took a lot of planning and saving on the sly (cant pack clothes she gets to go shopping) after 3 kids and living with me for 13 years she deserves a break like this, and has been saying it for the last year or so.

so guys don't listen to what she says now...listen to what she keeps saying all year long...

If your wife doesn't lurk here either, feel free to use the idea..or if she does spring it on her later like a birthday or anniversary (that was the original idea, but I had personal things stop me in my tracks)

I wouldn't get her any ammo until at least Mother's Day, though...

    But isn't \"Ammo\"

the Latin root word for "Love"?

    :)

    Think she would understand?

    Nah. Me neither.
