    Length of run on in floor radiant

    I recently install a two zone in concrete floor radiant heat system, using approx 975 of pex. One zone is approx 610 long and the second zone is approx 300' The system is going to be heated by the tankless water sytem by Rannei, the largest model they have (I do not have the model # handy)and will be run by propane. The rannei will also be used to heat the domestic water for a small office space, a couple of sinks, a shower head and an exterior spicket with hot water hookup.
    Now that the basics are set up, pexs in, concrete poured, ready to hook up the gas line and do the complicated system of the piping, my question is this;
    I have recently learned that I should only go a maximum of 250'in any one zone, but as described above, I did not do that...so my question is, now what? What are my options? I now know what I should have done, but what can I do to make it system work or can I get by? Help.

    The least they could do is write the installation instructions on the box that it comes in:-)

    bummer, scott....

    some people have used a four way valve that rotates the supply and return on a timer that operates during a heat call. I would look for some training programs from your supplier, if they are not providing you with that find another supplier. Also, feel free to ask here BEFORE you start another project.   • did you use 1/2" pex?

    what is the nature of the area? garage, workshop... something you can jackhammer a small portion of? :D

    Series pumps

    I would say jackhammer first ! If that dont float your boat try 2 grundfos pumps in series. Talk to a grundfos rep. and shoot your infloor sales person. Best of luck

    It can be forced to work

    To a certain degree :)

    I've reworked some 1000 "homeowner special" systems. Merely replacing the 15-42 with a 26-99 gets some output. as the 15-42 just spins it's wheels against that head.

    I'm currently data logging a 4 way reverser on my shop system. I've connected my 4- 200 foot loops into 1- 800 footer. I reverse the flow every 30 minutes with a Taco 0011 attached to a Paxton 4 way with a flip flow reverser drive.

    Some numbers on a 1000 foot I reworked 1 gpm 41.86 feet of head. 120 supply, 75.8 return (44.2 delta t)

    The tail end of the loop doesn't have much "fizz" hense the idea to reverse flow.

    Bare concrete with 12" spacing would get you around 18 BTU/ sq. ft.

    Although a 1 GPM 41 foot head circ is a bit hard to come by :)

    Long loop solution

    Install a hydroninc fan coil in the ceiling, or maybe a radiant ceiling? Either way buy a pex cutter and cut tubing at 250 foot lengths. The job will cost a bit more in fittings, but you'll save on electricity over that Taco 1600 series.

    Yet another source of internet information that needs to be sifted. While there is some very good information on this particular site, there is some that I do not hold with very well. That is all I have, or better have to say on this. If ya wanna see how hard your pump will have to work, just blow through the tubing.
