To help clear up the confusion on your situation, the pressuretrol on the left is your operating high limit. The one on the right is a secondary safety high limit with a manual reset feature. The one on the right is there to serve as a backup for the operating high limit. The adjustments on these are different though. The manual reset limit has a front scale that is your "Cut Out" pressure. The one on the left is labeled
"Cut In". This is not the pressure that the boiler will shut off at. To determine
your cut out pressure while operating, takt the cover off that control and
look at the setting on the wheel inside. This is the differential dial. The two
settings added together is your cutout pressure (cut in & differential).

The manual reset control on the left always wants to be set several pounds
higher than the operating high limit to avoid nuisance lockouts. Be sure that
the manual reset control is set below the relief valve setting though. Hope this

    Pressuretrol Settings

    I have 2ea Honeywell Pressuretrols on my boiler. The system runs at 5psi. I lowered the set point on 1 of them by lowering it from 5psi to 2psi and changed the adjustable differential from 2 to 1. The boiler still operates at 5psi. What is the correct setting for this arrangement? I was trying to lower it to 2psi.

    How do I set my system to run between 1/2-11/2 psi if the main scale (cut out] on my honeywell pressuretrol bottoms out at 3psi? Also the main scale must be set at least 1.5 psi greater than the diff. Right now, with the main set at 3 and the diff at 11/2 I think I,m running between 11/2 and 3. Any advice would be appreciated.     the PA series controls will not effectively do what you want -these should not be used on a residential as an operating control...PERIOD for a high limit they are ok (yes they come with all new steam boilers as part of the steam trim ) you need a vaporstat to do what you want effictively,accurately and consistently

    even if the PA series is not accurate enough, shouldn't reducing the cut-out below 5psi lower the operating pressure. When I did that there was no change. If I install a vaporstat, would I replace both PAs or just 1? Is the 2nd PA that is set at 2psi somehow incorporated into another control like an on-delay?
