I have a 10year old gray jacketed peerless steam boiler. On the side of the boiler where the psi guage taps into the boiler, the gasket to the round meteal plate has cracked and now is leaking water and steam. How can I temp. repair until I can get a new gasket.

leaking gasket
Virtually any repair that will last even a day or two will require pulling off the plate.....get a new gasket ASAP. If you are not very mechanically inclined and don't have all the tools, this is a job for a pro. Snap one or two bolts and you could be in trouble. If you have the ability and the right equipment, go for it. shutdown and drain the boiler to below the opening and have at it. (let it cool off first, ok?)

help
If you want to be a huge help to the contractor, go out and buy a GOOD can of penetrating oil and soak the bolts ahead of time. WD 40 is OK, but a true penetrating oil would be preferred.
If those bolts come out easily, the job is not a horrible one. If they break......0
