    F09 Munchkin VWH

I just installed 2 munchkin VWH 199Btu with a 200gal storage and they ran fine for a day. Now one unit works and the other has a F09 code. This is what i done so far:

Checked Ignitor and i have spark
    Check condensate line for blockage
Removed exhaust and some water came out.

    Any suggestions?

This is what you have to do

NEVER EVER install a Munchkin again. The F09 is on the wall every other day. Install Buderus GB142's and you will never have a callback. The Munchkin is a failed experiment that has cost Tech's thousands of lost man hours due to failures. They should send a Labor Allowance in the box!

    My 2 cents

    F09

Oddly enough, every F09 that I encountered during my stint at HTP was due to either an improperly installed or improperly set up boiler. Although every boiler is run at the factory, field conditions differ. Combustion testing and fine tuning upon startup is a simple way to assure that the good quality boiler that you have installed delivers what it promised. And that goes for any boiler.

    You are only fooling yourself

F09 is a legend and you and everyone else knows it. I am surprised that since you no longer sell them that you would stick up for a product that has been left in the dust by superior manufacturers. Wave as the bus goes by because you missed it.

    Ok

That's fine if that's what you want to believe. I still believe in the quality of that product and not every product will satisfy every person. Did you do combustion testing on your "problem " boiler?

    And/or....

Check for what I've been told is the most prevelent problem...the lack of a vent hole in the top of the trap?

Fixed more than one of my F-09 lockouts. Until you've walked a few miles in someone elses moccasins, don't be causing blisters without powdering first. Chris

I could not agree more with your comments about Munchkin. I too have worked many days on Munckins at the home owners expence. Systems that have been installed by the cheeper bid. Not so cheep after all. Good luck

Thanks for everyones help we got the boiler working today. The condensate backed up into the boiler and was causing the ignitor to arc onto the wet insulation. The unit is installed on the ground and the condensate was not draining properly. We removed the bracket that holds the trap onto the back of the unit and now we have a nice flow. I hope this unit remains trouble free and saves me some natural gas. I also would like to add that Chuck at Htproducts was very helpful.
    Thanks

    How much time

Guy since you believe all the Munchkin problems are contractor related, how much extra time, should I add in to the installation cost, for call backs. Not trying to be a wise ****, but I have been down that road, a lot of time invested, not because of contractor error, I resent that remark.Better yet, how many hours did you trouble shoot the Munchkin or the Voyager boiler, without getting paid for it?

Having been involved with several 100 Munchkin installations over the past few years. I can assure you, all Fo9 codes are due to lack of following the installation instructions for venting, draining and Co,Co2
settings. Don't blame the builder if the contractor can't
install it right. Follow the instructions, its simple and it works
