EDR Calculations

Dave it sounds as if you have a steam boiler. Steam boilers are sized to the amount of radiation not the heat loss of your house. I calculated roughly 200 sq ft of radiation installed in your house. The Utica PEG 150 is rated for 375. You would probably save some fuel with a smaller boiler. The radiation should be sized to the heat loss and the boiler sized to the radiation.

EDR Calculations
I'm in the final planning phase of my boiler repiping project.
I would also like to rip out the electric strip heaters, installed by previous owner, in master bedroom and 2nd floor bath and replace with radiators.
After reading "The Lost Art of Steam Heating" and calculating (I think) my current EDR load - I calculate that I have 35,078 BTU/Hr "extra" capacity!
I know the original radiators were removed from kitchen and living room - replaced with baseboard - UGH.
I have found some radiators that should fit nicely.
Could someone be so kind as to review my calculations and let me know if I'm on the right track ?
Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the reply Steve.
Yes it is a single pipe steam system and I am aware that the boiler should be sized to the load of the radiators.
I just need to confirm that my calculations are pretty accurate and that adding radiators wouldn't result in an undersized boiler.
I need to *fix* the near boiler piping and add vents to the mains as these problems are resulting in excessive consumption of fuel.
I need to fix the "little" things prior to thinking about a replacement.
Thanks again.
