I pulled out about 7ft of baseboard, in 2 sections, to put in a panel radiator instead. It's quite a lot of cast iron...if I leave it out in the alley, the metal-salvage guy who drives by each week (just before garbage collection) will be very happy.

But I am wondering if there is a better way to get rid of it. How can I dispose of it so it might be used for its intended purpose rather than being melted down? I don't need to make any money, it just seems a pity to throw it away. I'm in a Chicago suburb if that helps.

    List it for free...

Put it on Craig's List and if you want, you can ask people why they want it.
