Favored Products

Over the years and as an ongoing dialogue, there are raised several (several!??!) opinions on what company makes the best (name the product).

Things like air vents, CO detectors, air eliminators, controls, gadgets and doo-dads, testing meters, general and specific products.

The threads can seem to get lost and one may not in a moment need to bookmark a thread. But then a need arises.

Here is a suggestion (by which is not to suggest that it has not been raise before):

Can this site have a posting of favored products of each type? Not an endorsement nor as an open forum whereby there is product bashing, nor by vested parties but from those installing them.

The idea is just a quick recommendation, sort of an FAQ resource where one can see that a Gorton vent is good in this application, and Dole in another, that this CO detector has extra features and is a better value, those kinds of things. Brief descriptions or short reviews at most.

Yes, there are issues of dated material, but has this been raised before? We do not want to shill for particular products, but a list might benefit the public, the group and of course the manufacturers who take R&D to heart from the best Beta Testers in the industry, those on The Wall.

Thoughts?

    \"On the Job\" Section...

    Brad,

I think this is what the "On the Job" Section was "built"
for, review of equipment, tools and such, at least that's
    the way it strikes me.

    Heck, I could be wrong?

    Regards, db

    I did see that, db

and should have made the distinction. "On the Job" is indeed helpful but has a handful of items, systems and in more detail than I was thinking about.

I am thinking of a listing, almost a glossary, alphabetical order starting with Air Eliminators and ending with, oh gosh, Zeotropic Refrigerants. (Aardvarks could play a role heading up the list given their usefulness as fuel in some parts.)

What I envision is maybe 25 to 100 items that have passed muster by the practitioners on The Wall. An item and a cooresponding manufacturer or brand name and if particular enough a model number. Something to narrow down the myriad choices and limit re-asking. Again, not an endorsement service, but what works in the real world.
