we had problems with burning back in the opening
in front of the orifice, that mfg'r had us thread a screw up from the bottom about 3/4 of an inch from the opening. This seemed to correct the the problem. I believe the screw was a simple sheet metal screw...#8 by 1/2 or 3/4. Hope this helps. Best regards

    Peerless burner problem

We have a customer having problems with the LP flames burning back in the tubes. Gas pressure has been checked several times and there is no change in the pressure resulting in this type of behavior. The burners have all been replaced(about $60.00 a pop)and they're still doing it. Shutters have been adjusted from 1/3 to full open. I tried rocking the manifold back to direct the gas more towards the burner openings but still no avail. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    2 possibilities:
    1) Poor draft through boiler. You're not carrying the gas through the burner properly. And if this has been going on for some time, you probably have sooted the boiler by now.
    B) A leaking gas valve. Gas is getting by the seat and pooling at the venturi opening. Lights off on call for heat. And if this has been going on for some time, you probably have sooted the boiler by now.
You know it's not the burners per se, so there has to be something else causing ignition to take place where the air/fuel mixture is conducive.
