Infloor Radiant on existing slab

The basement is new and I'm sure the builder has no desire to spend any more money on hte project then possible. It looks like a house he got on repo and moved it onto the new foundation (spec house). He even is using a VHE boiler he probably got from a remodel job. I'm going into this with a lot of skeptism but the real estate market is inflated in this area and affordable(let alone cheap) housing is hard to find.

Can it be done?
Can infloor radiant be installed on an existing slab and still achieve a level of efficiency. I may want to finish a basement and want to know the pitfalls before I try. Thanks0 -
There is a wealth of information on this site.. I have been researching this a lot and there are ways to do it. The big question is insulation. Got any under that slab? If not you will want some if you care about efficiency. You can take a core sample to find out. You can also build on top of the slab using commercialy available panels or you can roll your own. Somebody here specializes in grooving existing slabs. I understand he will fly to your hometown and groove your basement for free just for the fun of it :-)0
