It is "Sub-Terranean sanitary waste and vent distribution".
Yup, that's what it is called in the more civilized portions of the country.
Of course we abbreviate it for expediency like this:
U N D E R G R O U N D.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

All you plumbers out there......................................
Please give me any slang or local vernacular that you have heard or you yourself use to describe soil or wastes lines that run underground. For instance, in the NYC and Long Island Area we just call it "underground." EX: "Yesterday we got all the underground in the trench and tested." Mad Dog

I have not heard that term for many years but I remember my sprinkler foreman referring to the ductile water feed riser to the bottom of the sprinkler valve tree as low iron or feed iron (as in "snug the rods on the low iron")..... but that was about 33 years ago.0 -
Had an old boss who called it rough-in(anything under a floor)top out(above the floor)and trim out when dealing with a slab.0 -

Low iron
My very first boss (1967) said to me, "Hey kid, go carry the low iron for the guys roughing the bottom." I can still remember picking up the first 4" x 10' length of XX cast and trying to shoulder it! No wonder I feel old these days!0 -
In Ct
Underground or Soil Pipe are the 2 terms that I am familiar with.0
