Anyone running the sprinter trucks/vans. I'm looking to replace a gas GMC w/ a 12' box 12,000 gvw & wondered about the sprinter. we do some heavy towing & the GMC brakes can't cut it. Any input would be appreciated.

Vans
Andy, the best place to discuss vans, box trucks and sprinters is at www.expeditorsonline.com
They have a good forum, and these guys live in their trucks, so they know.

sprinter
We have had a sprinter for a service van for the past 6 months. Love the height in the cargo section and 21 miles per gallon is great0 -
Gm trucks
I have a 12' 12,000 gvw Chevy box truck, the dealer did not tell me that is was an (occasional 12K gvw) with shelving it is always in the 11K range. Eats brakes and suspension.
I am planning on my next truck to be a Mitsubishi or Isuzu (sorry for the spelling) tilt truck like the Blaue or Mayo trucks. I do not think the sprinter has the room once you have a box.
For my service GM 10 box trucks having similar problems I do plan on replacing with the sprinter "all I have talked to about them like them"
I don't feel sorry for not buying American made since it does not hold up. My trucks should last longer than five years for what they cost and I do feel ripped off.
Just venting

If you mean the White Freight liner
it looked so good that i considered bying it and jamming gears....instead my mind wandered back to an immediate need for a shop and mobile transport for getting me an materials to the job site and running to pay bills get parts, so went with the long box sprinter called it good.
that is one clean looking freight liner though...I often wish id had bought the Awufl Car and jammed gears....0 -
Sprinter
We just bought a Sprinter, a 140" high roof single rear, been on the road about a month. It is replacing a 6 year old GMC single rear 10' Cube Van that ate up brakes, had a transmission at 65K and is generally falling apart at 95K miles. So far it has worked out well. The fuel mileage so far has been FAR superior to the gas engines in the gmc or Fords we have.
It is rated to tow only 5000 lbs...keep that in mind. The Sprinter is unibody unlike the domestic vans which have frame rails with a body bolted on.
Ask me in about a year or two what I think...I hope they work out it's a nice riding truck.

Sprinters
We have two sprinters and are loooking to buy a crew cab Mitsubishi since we frequently have to send 4-6 people to the same job anyhow. we also have a some other regular vans and a box van . Why anyone would even consider a regular van compared to a Sprinter simply eludes me . 20 + MPG VS 10-12 do the math.0
