Noises

You know as well as I do that the noise was made with the old boiler. How could it not be? All you did was change the boiler. Sounds like you got someone trying to get something for free. Boy oh boy, that never happens in our field does it? Yeah right! You could check to see if the plastic runners that the baseboard sits on are all in place. You need ask yourself, is this customer worth keeping or should she be fired? I am so tired of freebies. Pick and choose your battles wisely.

    I changed a

boiler for a lady last month and now she is saying her baseboard is noisy and it wasn't before. What would I look for that would cause the clicking and expansion noises she didnt have before? WW

What boiler was there? probably heating faster now causing the expansion noises, if there is enough baseboard you can turn down the HL some 20 or 40 and see what happens, I design for 160* so if someone had left the HL at 200 you could drop to 160* and save on the noise

    I installed

a buderus gas fired. I did a heat load and put in a boiler with a capacity smaller than the old boiler but still bigger than the heat loss. I've already turned the temperature down to 160 and she is still complaining of noises. I think maybe she is turning the system off while she is at work and turning it on when she gets home. So the house and the baseboard is pretty cold when she gets home. Not sure what to do. I could recommend an outdoor reset but I bet she would want me to pay for it since "the old boiler didn't make the noises." Yeesh! WW

    Tekmar

One option I have used is Tekmar has controls with soft start, it will run the temp up slowly I think five to ten degrees at a time and then run there for a few and then ramp up again, it will do this untill you hit setpoint.

The same thought is in the back of my mind. A shame to be so cynical, but it could be the reality. I will visit a few times to make sure it isnt me, but then, if it's not I will try to fade out of her world. WW
