I purchased the boilers and a Hvac guy installed them. He did a nice job on the install but he is not familiar with these boilers. Does anyone know a tech in Passaic county NJ that works on these.
thanks

    Munchkin VWH

I had my plumber install 2 munchkin VWH 199btu with a 200 gallon storage tank today in a laundromat. I noticed in the manual that the circulating pumps should run continously, Is this correct? Am I going to go thru alot of these pumps and is it expensive to be running these pumps 24 hours a day? I set the temp on the boiler for 120 and a diferential of 8 degrees, is this okay? Do you think I should set both boilers the same temp or one for say 110deg and the other 120deg. I think one boiler can handle the place most of the time. I only need 2 running on the weekends when its busy.

    yes

Yes, it is recommended that the pumps run continuously. Those heat exchangers transfer an enormous amount of heat through a small volume of water. By keeping water moving, it both reduces thyermal stress on the HX and keeps any mineral deposits from building up on them (which would create more stress).

How much will it cost to have 2 pumps running 24hours a day? Do you think I should put a timer on the boiler when the laundromat is closed?
    Thanks

The cost to run pumps continuously will depend on how many watts your pumps draw, and how much your electric rate is.

One of the recommended pumps is the Grundfos 26-96. This pump draws 205 watts an hour. 2 pumps would be 410 watts. Times 24 hours is 9840 watts per day. Divided by 1000 is 9.84 KWH per day. Multiply that by your electric rate.

Here in WI, it's $0.095/KWH. So it would cost $0.93 a day to run the pumps continuously.

Another recommended pump is the Taco 1400-20. This pump draws 230 watts. So 11.04 KWH, which is $1.05 a day.

The other pump is the Bell & Gossett PL-36. I couldn't find a watt rating for this pump, but I'm sure it's very close to the other two.

I guess its cheap enough to run the pumps. Its real cheap now since I have a F09 code and one of my boilers is not running. Any help?
    thanks

    Fo9

F09 is an ignition failure. What were the CO and CO2 readings from the flue gas when the unit was initially set up?

    HTP

Give the tech dept at HTP a call 800-323-9651 ext 125. They can give you the name of the area rep. The rep SHOULD be interested in helping train the contractor, while solving your issue.
