to achieve what you are looking for is to change out with a digital, digital tstats run at the degree they are set to +-1*, mechanical tstats will have a differential of at least 2* - 5

    thermostat andd steam boiler

    My thermostat is set to 64 degrees. The boiler kicks on when the temp. hits 66 degress. Why does it do this. Shouldn't the boiler go on when the temp hits the 64 degree setting.I have a steam heating system.Thank you for any advice you have on this topic.

    The Honeywell T87 will have a 4 * diff , should be adjusted near 2* below and 2* above set point.There is a mercury tube inside ,thermostat needs to be leveled or adjusted...

    hw t87 thermastat must be leavel is the thermastat loose on the wall? did some one bump in to it
    did you remove it to paint the wall? to ck if its leavel remove the round cover you will see 3 tiney screws unscrew them the unit will come off the wall the base plateis what you level do not remove screws from thermastat they must be retighend to have heat
