HOT

Is "Swampeast Missouri" ever living up to its' nickname!!!

Read 100 in the North shade with dewpoint around 73. Only air movement seems to be from upwards convection. Sky so hazy that it appears cloudy with the sun looking white instead of yellow. Sky was technically mostly clear last night, but couldn't see any stars.

Utility company has issued "excessive demand" warnings with request to reduce consumption. Am watching the voltage fluctuate right now between about 111-119. My oversized office/master suite A/C unit has run constantly since about 11:30 a.m. and cannot maintain setpoint of 77! (Rather suspect that the voltage is a culprit as it's typically quite tight at 122.)

Tomorrow forecast to be even hotter.

    Here in SW Missouri

92° with humidity at 46%, same haze. My office AC has run non stop today. It has been cooling off some at night, maybe high 70's. But that is about to end.

Not the time of year to be laying tube on under slab insulation, especially black insulation :) The wire mesh gets to hot to touch!

    Not much different here Mike

As we speak (8:00PM) outdoor conditions are 86.2* with relative humidity at 66.8%. It's flat calm with nairy a ripple on the pond other than all the neighborhood kids swimming.

Feels like your swimming in a bowl of soup when you go outside.

We're having a string of 90F days. Has been that hot for a while. About 12F above average for this time of year.

And here I sit in my living room for the last four days with a nasty case of pneumonia.

    Go figure.

    How do you spell relief?

COLD FRONT!!! A summertime cold front anyway.

The wind picked up from the West/Northwest about 4PM this afternoon and you could feel the air change within about 10 minutes time. Amazing when you think of the volume of moisture that was just swept from the atmosphere.

Temp is still 81* but the RH is down to 42% and the dewpoint is at 50*. A far cry from last night at this time when the dewpoint was at 70+.

When we get a little snap in the night time air this time of year it means that salmon fishing out on Lake Michigan is not far off. About the second week of July things heat up out on the big lake. YEEHAA!

98 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, but

enjoying the smoke from surrounding wild fires from two states away, cant even see the mountains through the haze.

    Hey Steve

Once the salmon fishing heats up how long will it last? Also whats the average size fish? I've been wanting to do that for some time. Someday I suppose. The tuna starts here soon. I try to get in one or two(tuna) trips before the fall but sept/oct is when I actually take time off to go. Thats usually when the action REALLY gets hot. They average anywhwere from 50 to 250 pounds. If I could line catch Salmon here, I dont think I'd eat anything else(except for the tuna). I'm not crazy about the farm raised stuff. Its funny how I used to go offshore EVERY weekend and now I'm happy to get in one or two trips a year. I gotta give the salmon thing a try.

All kinds of stuff swimming around

Chinooks average 13-15# with a big one hitting 30+.
Then there are Steelhead, Browns, Lake trout, Coho which average a little smaller but the Steelies Browns and Lakers can hit 30+ also. I'd rather eat a grilled Steelhead than a big steak. They are also great fighters on the end of a line. They spend more time out of the water than in it. Awesome!!

I just love being out on the water. It's in my gene's. My great great Granfather on Mom's side of the familiy owned and was captain of a clipper ship that hauled freight and immigrants over from Europe in the late 1800's. He immigrated here himself from Holland when he retired. Guess I come by it honestly.
