Before and After

A few years ago I use to do work for a timber framing contractor. After a while he decided to get out of "turn key" homes and just concentrate on shell packages so we both moved on.I moved out of the area so I could be closer to my work.About18 months ago I was at a Wirsbo Advanced Design course and sat with this radiant guy from my old area. Now this guy was doing radiant long before anyone else in the area and definitely longer than I had, so I figured that I should be able to pick his brain. That night I went on his website to see how he had it set up and noticed that he had a link to my old timber framer and that he didn't show any pictures of his mechanical rooms.
The next day I questioned him about the timber framer and he said that he had done a couple of houses for him and that he didn't show pictures of his mech.rooms because he didn't want people to steal his ideas.I thought that was strange seeing as I want as many people to see my work as possible. That way you can improve your reputation and also with the help of constructive criticism I can improve the quality of my work.
Well a couple of months ago I get a call from my old timber framer about quoting a couple of jobs.I asked about the other radiant contractor and he said that the radiant guy had owed him a pile of money and that him doing work for him was the only way that he could get it out of him.It turns out that the timber framer moved into my area and was having problems with his heating system, that was done by the other radiant contractor, and asked if I could look at it. It seemed that he was blowing fuses on the relay panel and was also using eccessive amounts of fuel. When I looked at it I was dumbfounded by the job the other guy had done.He wasn't utilizing the condencing abilities of the boiler at all. There was no domestic priority and he had relays running other relays just to get dry contacts that he had to begin with. The contractor asked what I reccommended and I basicly told him that I would start over.He said he was going to be in Mexico this week so go ahead and do what I thought best. This is what I thought best.
Thanks
Dobber
