Is there too much baseboard heat

needs to be calculated first. You're right on the 67ft but maybe each floor needs more then that. You would then create another zone or split the loop. I would have looked into splitting the loop and leaving all the BB. If there was too much radiation, then just run @ a cooler water temp which would be more effient.

too much baseboard
I am having a heating contractor remove all my steam radiators throughout my 1st and second floor multi family. Both floors have the same sq.feet Onthe 2nd floor there is 117 linear ft. of baseboard element installed on 1 3/4 line.Only 1 zone.same goes for the first floor. Now I thought only 67 linear ft. of element baseboard should be installed on a 3/4 line. Now what will happen to this. Will this heat or under heat. Also will this make my fuel constantly run.0 -

Why would you remove good steam radiators and why are you installing so much baseboard on 3/4" pipe? Sounds like you need 4 zones, not 2. The first 60' of baseboards will get warm and the end of the circuit will be cold probably leading to cold return temps and thus a condensing boiler which will not only rot out the boiler but the chimney as well. Sounds like a recipe for uneven heat and high fuel bills coupled with a new boiler and chimney in your future. Did the contractor even do a heat loss calculation? I really hope you didn't get them off this site.

AHHHH,
Yeah, what Robert said. Makes sense to me. The envelope can only be pushed so far, and it sounds like the contractor went a bit overboard on the run of 3/4 pipe.
Maybe he knows something that the engineers haven't been able to prove...yet, but I doubt it. Chris0
