How to open skim tapping

I plan on skimming my steam boiler. Do I need a special tool (wrench?) to remove the plug from the skim tapping? I'm hoping to do this without removing the boiler jacket if possible.

What kind of boiler?
They are all different... Does your owners manual show you where the skim tapping is and if so is there a knockout available in the jacket? Need more info.0 -
It's a GSA-150 steam, natural gas, boiler. Williamson-Thermoflo is the manufacturer - I think.
Skim tapping location idenfied, visible and accessible. I see the plug?. I'm want to give this a shot but I don't want to damage the boiler either. From what the manual and the Q+A on this site states it seemed pretty straight forward but if I can't get the plug out then maybe not.
Might be over my head, in your opinion, should this be left for the pros or can a homeowner handle?0 -
