Auto Air Vent Replacement

It would be in your best interest to call a service pro. It can be done on the "fly", but you have to know what you are doing. The fact that you want to deflate the tank makes me even more insistant that you get help. Your questions are good ones.

Air vent replacement question
In my hot water heating setup I have an Air Scoop with the Auto Air Vent on top and expansion tank on the bottom. The cold water feed is also plumbed in at the junction of the expansion tank and the auto air vent. I need to replace the Auto Air Vent.
My system is hydronic (with antifreeze) so I dont want to drain the boiler since I have no easy way of replacing the antifreeze additive. There are shutoffs on the cold water feed side, the Taco pumps and the return side of the boiler. The output side of the boiler is plumbed directly to the Air Scoop and has no shutoff valve. I have a tire gauge and tire pump.
Heres my question: How can I replace the Auto Air Vent without making a mess or draining the boiler? If I isolate the expansion tank as described above, the output side of the boiler will still be connected. If I deflate the expansion tank can I remove the auto air vent, reinflate the tank to the point at which the water level just reaches the top of the Air Scoop and then install a new Auto Air Vent? If so, how do I set the expansion tank pressure after installation?
