what kind of supply temp are you running? I can see why she wanted it to the street...it's a slippery slope! You think fast on your feet, when the job is expanded as it goes! Best Regards.

Check this out...
I finally got the opportunity to demonstrate a GOOD application for a 4 way reversing valve, where I wasn't retrofitting it to correct the actions of others.
This is our never ending snowmelt job. The man of the house met with me originally and cut my snowmelt proposal by half in order to get it within his "budget". So we treated only the worst case scenarios, curve on road with hill etc, area in front of garage doors...
Then, while he was out of town, and his wife was in charge for the bank draw meetings, she found out what he'd done and demanded that the GC take the snowmelt all the way down the hill to the city street. He instructed me to take it down the hill to the "bridge". This is a stout patterened concrete bridge that passes over a 36" storm drainage conduit that serves the golf course. So, we took the system right to the edge of the bridge.
The Mrs. shows up and says "I want it to go ALL the way to the street!" (another 100 feet from where we'd stopped due to concrete bridge). so, what was a manifold box now became an "OOPS" junction box and a new manifold box was placed 100 feet further down the road and the large bore PEX extended to that point.
We put down the thinnest insulation we could on top of the bridge, and rolled on down the hill.
Anyway, I'd come up with the idea of having a supply manifold at the top of the hill, and a return manifold at the bottom of the hill, running all tube circuits parallel to each other. No down/backs. No crazy attempts at counterflow patterns. Just simple as can be.
We applied the 4 way reversing idea to it to avoid the possibility of having one end of the parallel circuits dropping the majority of the energy at the beginning. It has a time delay on it with fixed 10 minute intervals. 10 minutes one direction, then 10 minutes the other direction and so on and so forth.
The tubing installation went much faster because the guys weren't having to think about when to go home, or leaving an path to getrdone. Just straight runs from one box to the next.

I like the application!
what brand valve did you use? Good idea to install a valve between the P/S takeoffs.
I've found you need to flow the loop down a bit to get all the boiler output to the melt. For whatever reason?
