old boiler combo gas valve

Have a small 1957 raypak boiler with Honeywell combo gas valve. Pilot lights, but will not ignite burner with call for heat. Original Honeywell gas valve is Type V40AIk4x1, 115v .17 A 60cy 8 oz.press G-LP. Maybe the solenoid not pulling up? Replaceable valve or should I retrofit entire gas components?

Do you have 120 volts to the gas valve? If yes then check millivolts on the pilot gas valve, also clean the pilot the gas is fed directly to the pilot (non 100%) unusual on LP by the way but the safety has to be energized or there will be no gas going to the main valve.

The problem with a retrofit is that you have a modulating valve after the V40 A valve that would not be included in any retrofit.

If you decide on a retrofit I can walk you through a choice as I would go with a combination gas valve 24 volts and also add a transformer powered on the primary with the 120 volts now going direct to gas valve.
