    Cords

Instead of two versions, why don't cordless tool manufacturers make a transformer that fits into the battery slot?

    Duh!

Way too simple Andrew. Only the people who USE the equipment would think that logically.

Hitachi did that a few years ago, didn'y work very well. Made drill very heavy and very unbalanced. Also had a battery belt with a cord from belt to drill. Made drill lighter, but you couldn't put the drill down.

    corded stuff

I cant remember where I was or who was working on what....
Tool was powered by a central supply on the belt. Power cord was attached to the tool by a block that met where the battery would meet. the tool could be run from the battery attached directly or from the block attached to the tool and the battery clipped to the belt. As my wheels turn now, why not give a 3rd option for a remote power supply and a block to attach where the battery goes.
    Seems very VERY simple.
