You have mentioned the PERSIST system in two posts recently. I can't find anything on Google. Where/what is it? From the context of your posts it sounds like using XPS on the exterior envelope. Thanks.

    ... the Pressure Equalized Rain Screen Insulation Structure Technique (PERSIST) system was originally developed to deal with the weather extremes of Alaska and Northern Canada. Basically, you're dealing with structures that are externally insulated with isocyanurates or similar hard foams coated with stucco, etc. to deliver exceptional rain, snow, ice resistance, and very low heat loss. UAS's description of PERSIST can be seen here, along with descriptive pictures.

    Home Energy also has an interesting 1999 article on PERSIST, along with wall diagrams. However, PERSIST isn't just for Alaska. RayMoore over at the Breaktime forums builds homes with PERSIST, hot roofs, etc. to great success in Texas - his home is one as well.
