insulation question

Probably but the sun heating up the attic will cause a temp rise that will be warmer than 10* causing it to spin, check it just before dawn then the sun has no bearing and it would be a better indicator. #2 Depends on how much you want to spend for warm floors. Might be better to run staple up with plates and insulate under the staple up rather than to keep the crawl space warm.

If it is 10* outside, and the turbin spinning attic vent is turning, is a sign of heat loss that more insulation would help fix? Is there a benifit to heating a crawl space (sealed) under a room with a tile floor? (room 12X15 and a 3' high crawl space) Floor is always cold...

    Thanks,

The back room has a double layer floor, wih insulation between the 3" gap between the layers. No chance to staple up. Not looking for a 'warm floor', just not soo chilly and something to fight the heatloss...

if the floor is a sandwich construction...

with insulation then it would be a hassel to heat it from the crawl space. the reason is that it would slow the loss through the floor and in turn speed heating the ground under the crawlspace...

skirting the crawlspace and insulating the skirting and sealing the ground with a vapor barrier would slow loss from the living quaters from wind that carried away downward heat loss...

something that i saw that may work after that is done is some Radiant "Baseboard" made of plastic...you send two loops around the room and home again to the boiler...it is fairly involved looking stuff to install so maybe a small radiant pannel would be a better deal...

    Turbine spinning

A spinning turbine can also be caused by the wind; that is their primary motivation, closely seconded by internal convection. (Wind will induce far more flow than convection will.)

Insulate all you like, the turbine will still turn...

    ALL spaces

Have heat loss. determine what the load would bve on that crawls space before you insulate and heat it. It may be an expensive way to get warm floors!

That being said, I have draped and stapled Insultarp under cold floors like that to minimize the downward loss. It doesn't create heat of course, but does seem to keep the floors warmer. Cheaper than heating the crawl space.
