Burnham MPO

This will give those that couldn't make the two shows an opportunity to see the new MPO up close. Thanks again.

    Burnham MPO Boiler

Does anybody have any info on the MPO (multi-pass-oil) boiler coming from Burnham? Have several contractors inquiring about this. Burnham is generating excitement but not giving up the specs. etc.

    I think they

were waiting for the shows to get over first, JMO!

There was a lot of action at both the Burnham booth (MPO) and the Weil booths (Ultra) at NEFI in Boston. I would expect it's the same at Hershey.

I would expect a lot more on both in the next few weeks. I'm just excited and glad that it's not just Euroboilers that will be built for oil (horizontal flues) any more.

I'm floored to see this technology return in favor of vertical flues that were, IMO, always built for gas first.

Now, put a power gas burner like a CCT EZ-Gas on one of these and you got something special, FACT!

You don't think 'MPG'has a ring to it?

    actually

From what I heard in Boston they will be releasing it in limited number's to start. Think they want to get a feel for any issue's that may come up and then work them in. But then again Glenn can correct me if I'm wrong..:)

    I'm still waiting.....

For anything that Burnham releases about it.

I spoke with Glenn at NEFI and he seemed genuinely excited about it. I like what I saw. Lots of tappings to take care of the "code man", and a few niceties that will make using other manufacturers controls a breeze.

3 pass, many different and new control uses and from the conversation...a pretty much built in by-pass, what more could we ask for? Guess I'll be waiting just like everyone else. Chris

Glenn showed this to me at Hershey

and yes I'll agree it's a winner. It appears to be the most easily serviced boiler out there- you can do everything from the front. There's a cleanout in back too.

And it's quiet! Even though they're using the Beckett AFG rather than the NX, this is one quiet boiler. Glenn and I talked for a while standing right next to the MPO in what amounts to a small RV trailer, and didn't have to raise our voices. Did I mention it's quiet?

The only thing is, they don't have a steam version. C'mon, Burnham- it would probably be the nicest oil-fired steamer out there.

  • Just to clarify things......

The Burnham Hydronics "MPO" boiler is in its initial rollout state and will begin to enter the field very shortly. This will be a gradual release so that we can get individual feedback from those involved in the initial release. Not necessarily regarding any issues but regarding small "nuts and bolts" type things that may make it even better than it already is.

We are excited about the reception we have received thus far with the "MPO" at NEFI two weeks ago and again at NAOHSM this week. Thanks for your kind comments regarding it. The MPO Display Truck is officially on the road and will be near you real soon. Thanks again for your support and be patient.....it will be in the distributors stock real soon.

What ever happened to those NEFI pictures you were going to post? Hope I didn't break your camera or anything like that!

    OK Glenn,

    You asked for it!

Here's a couple shots of Glenn in action, and a section of the new Burnham MPO boiler. Enjoy. Chris

    Two Famous people

Those two famous people are Joe Peretti and Steve Long from Shetucket Supply Companies, Groton, Connecticut. Joe is the "heat guy" at the Groton store.

At Nefi they wouldn't let us look inside the MPO. Not until the second day at NAOHSM did they swing the door open. I like the tappings in the header for LWCO and Secondary High Limit. I like the junction box for the wiring in the top panel also.

Glenn maybe you need to downfire the burner in the trailer and maybe a fan coil outside to dissipate more heat for a longer burner run time. It comes up to temp fairly quick.

  • Thanks Bill

Maybe a bigger truck would work as well or possibly an outdoor shower to utilize the hot water being generated by the Indirect Heater. Thanks for the kind words.

    How soon?

Until we can see some documentation? Supply and return on top? Dimensions and weight? Flue sizes? Water content size? Looks like a winner Glenn.
  • Very soon Joe!

We are in the process of building an inventory right now with a formal release to the distributors within weeks.

Are you contemplating any integrated or built for this boiler type controls ala Buderus or Viessmann? Something that would do reset and DHW? What is the working temp range?

That HX section looks an awful lot like the Viessmann Vitorond 200 series and that is meant as a compliment.
  • Steve

There are already provisions on the MPO for one of three different Tekmar controls to plug right into the boiler. There are also provisions for a LWCO with prewired cord to plug directly into the boiler terminal strip as well as an auxiliary high limit. All controls on this boiler are non-proprietary and are mounted outside where they can be accessed without taking the jacket or panels off.

Although the majority of three-pass boilers tend to look similar in design, the MPO does have its distinct differences to provide for better btu outputs and AFUE efficiencies of 87% straight across the entire range. Part of this is due to the way we handle the return water flow through the boiler. The boiler can operate with return water as low as 100F without condensing.
