Wasn't there a post awhile back about pipe wall thinning in a domestic recirculating system? I thought somebody listed a website for ideas to solve problem. I have a 5 story nursing home with 4 006's on 5th floor flowing down and there's a B&G HV in 1st floor mech. room getting a lot of leaks and interior of pipe etched.

    H.E.C....

Hydraulic Erosion Corrosion. The best example of HEC I can conjur up is the Grand Canyon.

    1. Make sure the veolicty is maintianed at the minimum velocity for the pipe size. (2 foot per second)

    2. Install aquastats so that when water comes back adequatley hot, the pump shuts off.

    3. Install a timer to allow the pumps to run only during usage periods.

Note also that petroleum based fluxes will do the same thing the HEC does...

Why the 006s and the HV? Sounds like mega engineering overkill to me, but then again, I'm not looking at the system.

    Got schematics?
