what are standard flowrates for hydronic floor heating systems? also, what temperature are they generally operated at and what kind of heater is typically used? are there any tankless water heaters you would recommend for a closed loop system in which the goal is to maintain a water temperature of 125 deg F. thank you.

  • Typical,

but there are many variables; each job is different.

    1) 1 gpm/10,000 BTU's at a 20° delta T

    2) 140° - depends on floor covering and heatloss of building.

    3) Munchkin, Vitodens, MZ........many to choose from.

    RFH flow rates

While the other post referenced the essentials of the heat rate equation(essential in sizing the circulator), it does not directly address the required flow rate for a radiant panel's requirements. If you are asking what the typical flow rate is for a single loop of radiant tubing, I'm afraid it gets more complicated than that. It could be anywhere from .35 - 1.00+gpm. "It all depends". Analysis is required.

    That dos not

address required flow rate PER LOOP, which in my experience is FAR below 1.5gpm.
