new york city has a three year fire dept. lic. cert. of fitness. for acet. torch use.stiff half to one hour one time test. if you don't study data you will probably fail. fee is token five bucks a year as of now. communist mayor blumburg will probably raise it to five thousand if he gets wind of it. he don't like smoke. not really enforced--no one EVER asked to see it. i might be the only one that has one!!!

    sounds like a ..

User Fee. Which is really a disguised tax increase. Just the modern American way of increasing taxes while allowing the politicians to lie and say that they have not increased taxes. Just my $.02.

    They also

doubled the license fees for plumbers, increased the per fixture fee (more than doubled) and added a $60.00 per hour charge for plumbing inspections with a minimum of $30.00 per visit.

Now on top of the new fire dept fee Keith mentioned, if you light a candle in the City of York, you owe $2.00 per candle or the homeowner can pay the annual $100.00 fee. Restaurants get hammered for the $100.00 fee too.

Enforcement? Only where easy targets are concerned, which of course means licensed contractors and commercial establishments. Smells mighty rotten to me.

You see, our fair city is basically broke. Last year our Mayor asked for voluntary contributions & we antied up in spite of our paying higher taxes than surrounding areas already.

Won't be long till the surrounding community fire depts catch on and hit us up for fees too.
