Looking For Cast Iron Radiators

Hi all.

We are replacing several old cast iron radiators in a farm house. The farmer is a real old timer, and does not want anything too new or different (i.e. baseboard or thermostats).

Does anyone know where I can get new or refurbished Cast Iron Radiators?

The only ones that I have seen are the Slenderized and Classic Radiators made by Burnham. The Slenderized are too different and the Classic ones are too ornate and fancy.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

    Old rads.

I get them from the local scrap yards. You can usually find quite a selection in the "pile" I eyeball 'em good, air test them and water flush the keepers. My yard sells them to me for whatever they are currently getting for scrap cast (which isn't much), and will buy back the losers. I have found some real beauties this way!

    Happy hunting,

    Jim

Check scorched air heating firms and demolition companies. They are very often free for the hauling.
