Pump Noise

in THE MAIN WALL
Ground loop side of geothermal heat pump. Mounted 2 PL30's with unistrut and clamps like normal. Pumps hum and vibrate through entire house. Never had trouble before now with this type of mounting. Anybody have any ideas?

    How's the velocity

    Have you choked down the output to see if it improves, perhaps the head is too low on this job. Easiest to swap pumps to eliminate that variable.

    A notoriously noisy

    pump, those Pl series! I have removed quite a few and replaced with wet rotor types.

    That pump has an open frame motor, which helps them run a bit cooler, and reduces the drag imposed by spinning a rotor in the system fluid. All good ideas! Also less expensive than wet rotor motors to produce.

    The trade off is noise. The very early ones were really bad, they have quieted them down some. A good, well priced pump for high head applications in mechanical rooms where noise isn't a concern.

    Not a good match for wall mounted residential applications, in my opinion, that solid mount will transmit bearing and fan noise through the house like a drum.

    Iso Zorps unistrut clamps may help, but not much.

    thanks

    for the help. I normally use Grundfoss 26-96, but got bit by the $. Will end up changing the pumps. Choking off the discharge makes no difference.
