in THE MAIN WALL
I have a " DELCO HEAT" oil fired hot air unit,heating my building .I would guess it is from the 1950's or 1960's.I would like to know more about it, so I can service it properly . Would anyone know where it is possible to purchase a service manual or instruction book ,new ,used or a reprint, for this unit. I appreciate any help anyone can give me Thanks , ART

    Delco got out of this business

    in the 1960s I believe. Once in a great while I still see one.

    I think their scorched-air units were pretty straightforward as far as servicing goes. If the unit is in good shape and still has the original burner, you would do well to upgrade to a flame-retention unit such as a Beckett, Carlin, Riello or similar. This will cut your oil usage by at least 10%, maybe more. Have a pro do the changeover, it's not a DIY project.

    I would not recommend upgrading with a new burner, will burn out the heat exchanger. At that age, the best thing for all involved would be to upgrade to a new furnace. You'll get better heat at a lower price, and it would be better for our environment. Now the time to do the right thing, I know how much work, it takes to keep my 50’s & 60’s cars on the road.

    I have a Delco Installation & Service Manual from 1946, unfortunately it is not complete,it is in a 3 ring binder and each section was sold seperately as a filler (50 cents each) I have the following sections,& would be willing to make a copy & fax to you if it would be of help

    general operation of a pressure burner
    model D,DX,DR,A,&PB burners,each is a seperate catalog with a lot of detail
    controls & control systems
    oil burner installation & testing
    heating systems(steam,water & air)
    special tool section
    Unfortunately, one of the sections that is missing, section O Conditionar Units(Forced Warm Air) sounds like the section you would need

    I agree with Bob

    New retention head burners are about 800 degrees hotter than those old low speed burners .

    I think Beckett still makes a 1725 that may be compatible if you keep your co2 low.

    However given the cost of the burner and any necessary code upgrades you are probably bettter served looking at a whole new unit. Check out Thermopride they will give you the same life as Delco

    Need assist on specs for Delco Heat oil furnace

    Good afternoon, I need to obtain some info on an Delco Heat model OPC100D, serial 5094273. I need to verify if this has a Beckett burner, is it just a furnace, or is a boiler, etc? Thank you, Gregg/Senior Purchasing Rep., 888-955-4415, Ext 6302.
