Hi Mark,
I have a slab-on-grade radiant in floor home that is
going to need a 30 percent glycol mixture. I remember an
article that you wrote a couple of years ago, explaining
how to use an expansion tank as a glycol make-up. I didn't
want to use a chemical feeder and I can't find your original
article on how to set up the expansion tank. Could you
please explain one more time....Thanks in advance.

    The PIG...

    PIG stands for Pressure Induced Glycol. Verbally, it is an expansion tank with the fluid side charged to 70 PSI, a pressure reducing valve between it and the system expansion tank.

    We use it as a standard on ALL of our system now to alleviate potential water damage due to leaks. Make sure you have a low water fuel cut off, and a low pressure cut off to avoid dry firing the boiler

    for the good info. By the way, do you use glycol in many
    of your systems, or only when necessary? With all of the
    hydro outages, I'm also installing a back up generator
    panel for this customer and a direct vent propane fire
    place. All the best to you and your family.
