above slab radiant?

I have a customer building a weekend art studio. They are putting down a slab but want the radiant to be more responsive because of the part time use thus they are considering above slab radiant. The floor covering will be kiln-dried pine boards. Any thoughts about this situation including type of insulation?

    Above the floor radiant.

Check out the Roth foam panels. They would be excellant for this application. Low mass and low temperature. Panel thickness is 3/4". Constant circulation would be the best way to control temperature in the room and provide even temperatures. Roth manifold shunts might be he ticket. Be sure you do your research on the pine flooring to make sure your not going to have any problems with shrinking or warping. Check out Radiant Panel Association for some direction on floors and Roth Industries web sites.

Try the RAUPANEL System by REHAU. I used in a basement and worked well. Fast response and low temp water, will not hurt the wood floor. Check it out at rehau-na.com or call the local rep.
