Meeker Mansion Day 2-3-PGP

We accomplished alot this week at the Meeker Mansion and were able to pour a 10 x 4' concrete pad for the new boilers. The local cement truck service will mix from 1/2yd to 7 yds. Very convenient when pouring small pads.

We also revalved all 18 of the existing radiators with new Danfoss RA2000 TRV's and actuator heads.
Revalving the radiators went smoothly...only two original valves were a little stubborn. Jeff and Carlos are master radiator wrestlers. We have to tarp heavily to protect from damaging the surroundings. Pipe fitters aren't exactly ballerinas. We have 8 more radiators to install in the unheated rooms, and are waiting for the historical society to select the colors of the antique rads, before proceeding later in July.

The pic of the documentary film sequence shows Paul and Bob Minnich, the MMHS president and museum doscent, holding a jar of Ezra Meeker's hops from the 1870's in Meeker's library. The desk is the original from his hop factory. Meeker made his fortune in hops, to the tune of $500K per year in 1870. He owned the largest commercial hop houses in the world, when beer was as common as milk.

The embossed radiator is in the parlor and yes, we will be sure to retrofit antique escutcheons around the piping supply and returns where they are missing.
Next week we'll replace the ceiling in the mechanical room and begin the repipe. We'll do the boiler installation and chimney repairs in late July.
