What's the going rate for gyp-crete in your area? Is it sold by the square ft.? Thanks, also how soon after its poured can foot traffic walk on it?

    square footage, say 1500 to 5000. Around here, it seems, $3.30 to $2.50 p/sq ft is a good ballpark figure. I would opt for Therma Floor products (Gypcrete brand name) over Hacker Industries. Nicer floors, at least in my experience.

    It can be walked on the next day, but it should be covered with luan or plywood if heavy foot traffic is expected. No ladders, scoffolds, etc. unless on plywood. It takes 7 to 21 days or more for the slab to complete cure. Remember, a gypsum floor is not a wearable surface and has to be sealed before finished floor is installed.

    gypsum based underlayment...

    We have had tens thousands of square feet of Gypcrete poured
    over the last 13 years, alot of it unfortunatrely with
    limited success. If you can find a LEVELROCK applicator in
    your area give it a chance, truly impressive product and
    screened and trained applicators, and competitive $$$.
    After a day it is as close to flat work as you will find,
    because they can pour it at 3,000 psi + also.
