Concrete and insulation

Sorry if this has been discussed before. My concrete contractor wants to install B/F/B or thermal blanket below 2" of sand. This gives moisture a place to go besides coming to the top, results in much stronger surface. Any input,pros or cons? Anyone know place to go for info?

    Radiant reflective basics...

    In order for a surface to reflect long wave heat transmission form the source, all of the following must be met. The aluminum used for reflectance must be 99% pure virgin aluminum, the reflecting surface should be uniformaly smooth (as in mirror like) and the reflective surface should have approximatley 1" of dead air on either side of the reflective surface. Think about this befor eyou spend a lot of money on B/F/B insulation.

    In independent tests we performed at RRCC, we found that 1/2" of sheetrock had about the same effect as B/F/B as it pertains to resistance value. As for reflectance value, there didn't really appear to make any difference. Our method of testing were far mor ideal than you will see with the material crushed below gravel etc...

    Go with a proven material, XPS insulation.
