This works too. I had an old website that looked like someone had typed the table out on a (manual) typewriter until someone showed me this link.

    used to be easy--you just had to remember the numeric code. Since Windows took over though...

    You could hold down the ALT key while typing 0176 for a degree sign °.

    Or you could go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, CHARACTER MAP to see what's available off the keyboard.

    I continually forget 0176

    as I learned it in ASCII and it's 167 (you didn't used to have to use the leading zero).

    Will say this program is pretty easy. Press (and release) the control key, then enter simple codes letter codes--like "dg" for ° or "'e" for é. You can also set up your own. Can't complain for free.

    Other strange thing about entering the number is that unless you have "numeric lock" engaged some programs think you're using arrow keys. Started programming in the early '80s when keyboards didn't have the "extra" arrow and positioning keys and never learned to use them so can't stand numeric lock.
